COVID-19: 78 New Cases, 63 Recovered, One Death - Health DG

PUTRAJAYA, May 22 (Bernama) -- A total of 78 new COVID-19 positive cases were recorded today, bringing the cumulative number of cases in the country to 7,137, with 1,163 active infectivity cases, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said of the 78 new cases, 25 were imported cases and 53 were local infections. “Of the 53 local infections, 40 involve non-Malaysians with 25 of them detected at the Immigration Depot in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur,” he told a daily media conference on COVID-19 here today. He said there were 63 recoveries today, bringing the total of those who have recovered from COVID-19 and discharged from hospital to 5,859 cases (82.1 per cent). One death was reported today, bringing the cumulative number of death due to COVID-19 in the country to 115 or 1.61 per cent of the total cases, he added. -- BERNAMA
