By Massita Ahmad
SINGAPORE, April 18 (Bernama) -- Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 942 cases of COVID-19 infection, bringing the tally for the republic to 5,992.
The ministry said the "vast majority" of the cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
“Local cases have continued to decline, with 14 Singaporeans/ Permanent Residents among the cases Saturday,” it said in a statement here.
“We are still working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued tonight,” it added.
As of Friday, 3,267 were classified as dorm residents, 258 involved work permit holders not residing in dorms, 956 community cases and another 569 were imported cases.
Singapore has gazetted 12 out of 20 affected dorms as isolation areas with most of the infected dorm residents are from Bangladesh, India, China and Myanmar.
