Dept Foresees Delay In Arrival Of Indonesian Maids
JOHOR BAHARU (Malaysia), Feb 27 (Bernama) -- The sending of Indonesian maids
to Malaysia may experience a delay as the agencies involved have yet to receive
any submission of profiles by employers, Labour director-general Sh Yahya Sh
Mohamed said.
The absence of profiles of employers requiring maid services has caused a
snag in commencing the mandatory 200 hours of training for maids, he said.
Speaking to reporters after attending a dialogue between the Human Resources
Ministry and employers from various sectors in the state today, he said under
the new regulations, employers are required to submit their profiles if they
want to obtain maid service.
The sending of maids from Indonesia is expected to start by March 1 but the
latest development may delay their arrival to April.
"The Indonesian government agrees to facilitate the process by giving quotas
to agencies in Malaysia on conditions that the employers' profiles are
submitted.
"The biographical data of maids who are undergoing training will then be
released," he said.
