DEVELOPMENT TRENDS IN PUBLIC TELEVISION UNDER DISCUSSION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An international forum under the theme ‘Public Television Development Trends’ was held on Wednesday at the Corporate Hotel & Convention Center. Addressing the development trends and pathways for public television in Mongolia and challenges in global television industry, the forum was held in connection to the 50th anniversary of Mongolian National Broadcaster and the founding of television industry in Mongolia which falls today. Following the pilot broadcast on July 11, 1967, the Mongolian National Broadcaster began regular television broadcasting two months later, on September 27. As such, September 27 marks the official founding of television industry in Mongolia as well as the anniversary of the Mongolian National Broadcaster (short for Mongolian National Public Television). Representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international delegates from media outlets and organizations such as Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Deutsche Welle, BBC, Sputnik, UATV, CCTV, NHK, RT-1 TV and Neimeng Television from Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China attended the international conference. Director-General of the Mongolian National Public Radio and Television L.Ninjjamts delivered remarks at the opening ceremony during which greetings were also conveyed from President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga, Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold, Acting Prime Minister J.Erdenebat and ABU Secretary-General Jawad Mottagi.
