Discard Prejudice, Enhance Unity: M'sian Information, Communications & Culture Minister

JELEBU (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Information, Communications and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim has called on the people to take the opportunity in conjunction with the Chinese New Year to make a transformation and discard prejudice among them. In conjunction with the celebration, he said that people should strive to promote understanding by getting themselves acquainted with the cultures of other communities. "This is what we should do. I hope that during the Chinese New Year open house in Sitiawan, in the northern state of Perak on Jan 28, we can come together and make it a stepping stone for greater unity. "We've been talking about forging understanding among us but this is not easy to implement," he said when visiting the house of Chennah assemblyman Siow Chen Pin, here. He said the society, either through political parties or non-governmental organisations, should make it a practice to visit one another to promote unity and harmony. -- BERNAMA
