Drug solution included as national agenda

BANGKOK, August 28 (TNA) - The Thai government has included the solution to drug problems in the country as national agenda. Thai Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists of the information on August 27, stressing that the government is speeding up solving the drug problems in the country. The spokesman said the Thai government's ongoing move to solve the drug problems is focused on public health approaches that drug addicts are treated as patients whose human rights are protected. Besides, drug addicts are looked after so that they can co-exist and live in the Thai society peacefully with other people. The spokesman noted that the Thai government has also introduced a plan under which all sectors in the Thai society are encouraged to develop their villages and communities to be narcotics-free, together with cooperation and collaboration against anti-drug producers and traders. The spokesman stated that the Thai government has, meanwhile, amended and integrated drug laws to ensure their effective enforcement in the same direction. (TNA)
