Duke of York visits Tamkeen

Manama, Mar. 26(BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, visited today met the participant in the second edition of Pitch@Palace competition, at the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) headquarters. He was received by Tamkeen Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi. The meeting was part of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to attend the concluding ceremony of Pitch@Palace competition, which will be held tomorrow evening. The competition was launched by Prince Andrew in 2014, as one of leading international initiatives to celebrate entrepreneurship, and to provide a platform for emerging businesses for further grow and prosper. The Duke of York was briefed about Tamkeen’s role in strengthening the entrepreneurship in Bahrain, and its support to programs and initiatives in the private sector development. He was also informed about the projects submitted by the participants in the in the second edition of Pitch@Palace competition, stressed the importance of the contest in creating a suitable environment for communication and exploration, while enhancing the opportunities for expansion of their projects and their implementation on the ground. Tamkeen Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al-Khalifa hailed the Duke of York’s visit as well as his keenness on meeting Bahrain entrepreneurs and encouraging them to participate in the competition. Twelve Bahraini entrepreneurs will present this evening (March26) their projects, in the presence of the Duke of York, invitees, IT and media specialists, investors and the jury. The public selection award will be announced during the ceremony, before giving the go-ahead for e-voting on the projects. A training camp will also be launched. E-Voting will end hours before the final ceremony.
