Emiratis volunteers at UAE Pavilion at 2012 Yeosu Expo lauded for their devoted service

Yeosu, South Korea - June 4, 2012 (WAM) - The major distinguished aspect of UAE National Pavilion at 2012 Yeosu Expo now under way in this southern city of South Korea appears to be the devoted services of Emiratis volunteers with personal care particularly for elderly and handicapped people.
A dozen of UAE volunteers are at work at the UAE Pavilion which is being visited by more than 8,000 people a day on the average.
In the early morning hours of Saturday on June 2, hundreds of visitors were seen standing by in a long queue to wait their turn to enter UAE National Pavilion emerging one of the ten major popular spots there.
An Emiratis volunteer approached an elderly handicapped lady and escorted her to the inside of the pavilion from the beginning to the last of her visit.
At one point, she helped the elderly lady picking up an earphone so that the lady listen to explanation about a video of green turtle, named Pearl. When Pearl dies through plastic ingestion, an Emiratis boy named Ali in the movie is stimulated to "do something". "He dreams of a sea without plastic pollution and sets about making that happen.
"I was fascinated not only by the movie itself but also by her personal care," the elderly Korean lady thanked her giving her "double pleasures." The Korean elderly lady then took digital photo at the photo taking booth installed at the UAE Pavilion to send the photo to her email address with the help of the volunteer.
The efforts of Emiratis volunteers at the UAE National Pavilion are mainly focused on helping the elderly, orphans, kids and handicapped people. Offering emergency response and the first aid is another avenue of volunteers at work at the 2012 Yeosu Expo, according to Abdullah Al Aidarous, Deputy Commissioner General of UAE Pavilion.
"We are very proud of Emiratis volunteers whose meaningful volunteerism here will strengthen social responsibility and national spirit among the volunteers," he added expressing hope that their small helping hands dedicated to assisting kids, elderly and disabled adults would present a brilliant image of his country to Koreans setting a perfect example in UAE voluntary work," he added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
