Envoy: More Uzbek Students Expected To Pursue Studies In Malaysia

From Adnan Jahaya TASHKENT (UZBEKISTAN), March 6 (Bernama) -- More Uzbek students are expected to pursue studies in Malaysia in the next few years, Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Abdul Aziz Harun said. At the moment, there are 700 Uzbek students pursuing studies in numerous fields in Malaysia, he said at a dinner in honour of visiting Perlis Islamic and Malay Customs Council (Maips) delegation here, Monday night. The delegation, led by the The Crown Prince of Malaysian Northern State of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is Maips president, arrived here Monday night for a week-long visit. The delegation earlier visited the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture "Nur Mubarak" in Almaty, Kazakhstan apart from meeting leaders of the halal industry sector and mosque leaders in Kazakhstan's capital city, Astana. Abdul Aziz expressed confidence that Malaysia would become a choice destination for Uzbek students once they become aware of the facilities provided by Malaysia. Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said after the dinner that the younger generation of Malaysian could learn a thing or two from Uzbek youths, who are exposed to positive activities such as sports, arts and culture since at a young age. This has helped to build their character and keep negative elements at bay, he said. -- BERNAMA
