First International Photography Festival begins in Sharjah

SHARJAH, 13th October, 2016 (WAM) -- Xposure, the first International Photography Festival in Sharjah, began on Wednesday at the Expo Centre Sharjah. Bringing together a wide range of events and activities on a single platform, XPOSURE 2016, an initiative that celebrates and enriches the field of photojournalism in the UAE and the region, was opened in the presence of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Organised by the Sharjah Media Centre, the four-day event is the official photography and educational and imaging platform that combines a broad range of photography events including exhibitions, workshops, seminars, presentations, competitions, photo walks and a photographic product trade show. Since the invention of the camera, many photos had changed the course of history, making them mightier and more influential than words in touching hearts and minds and relaying a message that shapes public opinion, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre, said while addressing the opening ceremony. Supported by professionals and industry experts, Xposure offers many exciting prospects to learn new skills and network with leading professionals and enthusiasts, along with the opportunity to see, handle and try the latest photographic products. Additionally, the event offers advanced training in the fields of Photojournalism, along with Documentary photography. The integrated experience includes all the needs of the photographers from soft knowledge to advanced technical skills. Sharjah Media Centre launched the concept of Xposure as an International Photography Festival that will become an annual feature in the calendar of professional photographers, photography enthusiasts, filmmakers, students and educators from around the world. The event spans a 9000sqm. area to showcase world class exhibitions, trade shows, workshops, live stage demonstrations, seminars, screenings, panel discussions and more.
