Flash flood hits Nan

NAN, July 18 (TNA) – Overnight rain, caused by tropical storm Talus triggered flood in several parts of the northern province of Nan. About 20 houses and roads in Phupieng district have been submerged under 50 centimeters of water. Water in a canal burst its banks, flooding low-lying areas, forcing Nan Nakhon school to temporarily close today. In Pua district, teachers and students at Baan San school moved teaching equipment to higher ground as flood is overflowing into the first floor of the school building. In Mae Charim district, forest run-off cut off a bridge. The district asked the Nan highway office to install a bailey bridge for temporary use. Local disaster prevention and mitigation office has closely monitored rainfall and water situation to prepare for more possible flash flood in other parts of the province. (TNA)
