Flood hits riverside communities in Uthai Thani
UTHAI THANI, July 12 (TNA) - Riverside communities in Uthai Thani have been affected by the rising Chao Phraya River, overflowing into canals and rice paddies.
The water flow of the Chao Phraya River in upstream province of Nakhon Sawan was measured 1,100 cubic meters per second today and it overflowed into a canal in the provincial seat of Uthai Thani, which also receives water, released from the Wang Rom Khlao dam.
Riverside communities have been under water of about 50-100 cms. Some houses and a portion of a village road have been flooded. About 400 acres of paddy fields, which will be harvested in three weeks have been under water.
Local authorities dispatched flat-bottomed boats to flooded areas to facilitate local residents in travelling. Make-shift tents were erected in preparation for evacuation if floodwater increases while some people have already moved to stay at the shelter. (TNA)
