Flood hits Sukhothai
SUKHOTHAI, July 28 (TNA) – The water overflowed from the Yom River breaking through flood walls hit several areas in Sukhothai province on Friday morning as residents were forced to bring their belongings to higher ground.
Officials and machines were deployed to place sandbags and work at the damaged flood barriers overnight, but their attempts failed to stop the runoff.
In the early morning, Sukhothai Fresh Market in the provincial seat was submerged under 30 centimeters of water. Residents were forced to move their belongings to higher ground and place sandbags to prevent floodwater from entering their premises.
Also, the Thai Chumphon Temple where the damaged flood walls are located behind was inundated under 30 to 50 centimeters of water.
It was reported that water level in the Yom River has still been rising. (TNA)
