Four Women From China Nabbed For Human Trafficking

SEREMBAN (Malaysia), Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Four women from China were arrested by the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department on suspicion of being involved in human trafficking activity, during a raid at a budget hotel here, Friday afternoon. State Immigration Enforcement division chief Abdul Kadir Hussein said his officers raided the premises where all the foreigners, aged between 25 to 30, were kept at 4.30pm. "The foreigners were rescued and they will be detained for investigation before we send them to shelter," he told reporters at the scene. The case was investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act 2007. He said in the operation, the officers had to break down the door because the foreigners refused to open the door. Abdul Kadir said the operation was based on the information obtained previously related to human trafficking cases involving foreigners around the town. He said the suspects were believed to move from one hotel to another hotel to avoid detection by the authorities. "At the same time, we still detect the party involved in this case. We have identified the syndicates and efforts are being made to detect them. We are currently waiting for the right time to detain them," he said. -- BERNAMA
