GUIDELINES ON SINGLE PARENT AND MATERNITY BENEFITS ADOPTED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet adopted Guidelines in compliance with the Law on Issuance of Benefits to Single Mother and Father with Many Children on December 13. The Guidelines set a monthly allowance of MNT 40 thousand from the fifth month of pregnancy to birth, maternity benefit of monthly MNT 50 thousand for mothers with children under the age three, one time allowance of MNT 1 million per one child in twin birth and one time allowance of MNT 3 million per one child in cases of triplets and multiples. Provincial governors and Minister of Labor and Social Protection were ordered to ensure full implementation of the Guidelines. Moreover, single parents with three or more children will receive MNT 240 thousand quarterly. The Law on Issuance of Benefits to Single Mother and Father with Many Children was adopted in June this year, pursuant to the 2016-2020 Action Plan of the Government, which comprises provisions such as a ‘Mothers with Salary’ program to improve the social guarantee of mothers looking after their children under the age three and adoption of a social protection law for single parents.
