Doha, January 26 (QNA) - HE Minister of Social Development of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Wafa Bani Mustafa, who is also head of the executive office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, highlighted the importance of the ongoing 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs in Doha, hoping that it will come out with decisions in favor of the national interests of the Arab countries in this period in which they deal with the effects and repercussions caused by many crises, the latest of which are the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the consequences of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. In her speech at the opening session today, Her Excellency appreciated the support of the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for joint Arab action and the promotion of social action in the Arab countries to achieve the desired development. Her Excellency praised the warm reception and good organization of this session, stressing that this is not surprising for the sisterly State of Qatar, which has achieved great success in organizing and hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, considering this a success for all Arab and Islamic countries. She noted that the effects of the social transformations and changes that occurred in the Arab region in particular and the world as a whole as a result of the health, economic and political crises began to be evident on marginalized and vulnerable groups and posed challenges to achieving the goals and objectives of sustainable development, especially those related to the eradication of poverty and hunger, the pursuit of gender equality, and social protection policies, especially for the most vulnerable groups. Her Excellency reviewed the important issues and topics to be discussed by the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, and their role in terms of supporting and developing the activities, projects and programs of Arab action through its executive arm, which is the Arab fund for social action. She also touched on the attention paid by the Kingdom to the social protection sector and the government's priorities in this regard. (QNA)
