India-Bangladesh extradition pact on cards
New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) India and Bangladesh may sign an extradition treaty when the neighbouring country's Home Minister Shahara Khatun arrives here on Thursday on a three-day visit here.
Khatun will have intense delibeartions with her Indian counterpart P Chidambaram on various bilateral issues, including counter-terror measures, border disputes, cross-border illegal activities and infiltration.
Official sources said Tuesday draft of the extradition treaty was approved by the officials of the two countries with some changes and the pact may be signed during the trip of the Bangladesh Home Minister.
The progress in implementation of the agreement relating to demarcation of land boundary and exchange of adversely-held enclaves, that was signed by the two countries during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka in September last year, is also expected to come up for discussion at the Home Ministers' meeting.
New Delhi may raise the issue of anti-India activities in the neighbouring country while Dhaka is likely to take up the issue of nabbing wanted criminals of that country. PTI
