Indonesian Embassy In Caracas Promotes Batik

Jakarta, Feb 20 (Antara) - The Indonesian Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, is promoting batik as part of an event to mark the 55th anniversary of both countries` diplomatic relations. A press release made available to Antara, here on Thursday, stated that the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Venezuela will be highlighted by year-long activities in 2014, including the promotion of batik. Besides promoting batik, the embassy will also stage a fashion show, and a workshop that will be attended by Bayu Arya, batik maker from Yogyakarta. Bayu will be one of the jurors in the batik design competition, which is to be organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas in cooperation with Venezuela Instituto Brivil, a leading design institute in the country. The promotion of batik will start on March 1, 2014 and take place at Quinta Indonesia, the residence of Indonesian ambassador to Venezuela.
