Indonesians Working In Malaysia Express Regret Over Hostility Of Sea Games Supporters

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Indonesian nationals working in Malaysia expressed regret over the action of Indonesians who did not respect the sensitivities of the various national contingents participating in the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia. Malaysian media covering the event in Jakarta reported that Indonesians were were insensitive as they did not respect the national anthem of other countries during medal presentations. They also provoked and mocked Malaysian athletes in particular each time the hosts athletes won a point. Tony Abdullah, an Indonesian national when interviewed by Bernama, said he was sad with the action as it should not be done by supporters of his country. 'I feel the action is embarassing as it spoils the spirit of sportmanship and I hope it will not happen again as Indonesians are known for their courtesy," he said. Tony, 40, who works in the medical sector, said he could not support the action of his countrymen. "They do not know that the Malaysian government treats Indonesian citizens working or study here so well," he said, adding that he hoped the action would stop immediately to protect the good relations between the two countries. Cobbler, Anang, 30, said he completely did not support the action of not respecting others. "I am sad that they would do anything without thinking that Indonesians lived in peace in their endeavours to find a living in Malaysia," he said. -- BERNAMA
