Indonesia's Embassy Preparing Repatriation Of Survived Sailors

Jakarta, July 4 (Antara) - The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is preparing the repatriation of all Indonesian sailors who survived the sinking of Japanese ship Yujin Maru No.7, the embassy`s secretary said. "We will send home seven Indonesian crew members of the ill-fated ship on Saturday (July 6) at the latest," the embassy`s Second Secretary Jane Runkat told Antara from Tokyo through the phone on Thursday. Jane said the Japanese ship sank on June 23, 2013 in the Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The seven Indonesian survived sailors are Sahroni (Pemalang, Central Java), Hendrik (Sukabumi, West Java), Agus Susanto (Majalengka, West Java), Ahmad Said (Rembang, Central Java), Rohmat (Cirebon, West Java), Deden Nurisman (Bandung, West Java), and Agus Rusmanto (Majalengka, West Java). Jane said that when the embassy`s team visited them in Shiogama on Monday, the Indonesian crew members were still in the stage of recovery. "We are preparing immigration documents in lieu of passports to replace their missing passports when the ship sank," Ricky Suhendar of the embassy`s protocol and consular affairs said. In the meantime, the embassy`s Assistant Transportation Attache Wahyu Ardhiyanto said that the embassy would facilitate efforts to claim insurance compensation for the replacement of the sailors` missing properties. "The ship owner has agreed to provide assistance in the investigation and insurance compensation process," said Wahyu Ardhiyanto. When the Japanese fishing vessel Yujin Maru No 7 sank, there were two Japanese and seven Indonesian crew members aboard. Because it collided with cargo ship NOCC Oceanic, Yujin Maru was cloven into two pieces and sank. Eight sailors were rescued by another fishing vessel, Yoshi Maru No. 55 while one sailor who is the ship`s skipper was until Wednesday still missing. The cargo ship is now taken to Sendai port for investigation. The Indonesian Embassy assured that all Indonesian sailors on the ill-fated ship were safe. Japan Coast Guard reported that Yujin Maru No.7 which flew Japanese flag and had a 19 gross tonnage sank at 10.15 local time after colliding with NOCC Oceanic cargo ship which was larger in size.
