Industry minister chairs GCC meeting

Manama, May 22 (BNA): The Minister of Industry, Commerce Tourism Zayed R. Alzayani chaired the consultative joint meeting between GCC Ministers of Commerce and the Heads of Gulf Chambers at the Capital Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Assistant Secretary-General of Economic and Development Affairs, Khalifa bin Said Al-Abri.The meeting was also attended by GCC Ministers of Commerce and Industry, representatives from the Secretariat General of Gulf Cooperation Council, heads and members of Gulf Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The minister delivered a welcoming speech, confirming the importance of consultation approach and cooperation between the public and private sector in various economic, commercial and industrial fields in order to enhance the importance role played by the private sector as it considered the main engine of the economy, which positively reflect on the economic and commercial status of the GCC at regional and international levels. The minister hoped this meeting to reach positive and practical results, which will enhance efforts to develop GCC joint trade and industrial cooperation at all levels. Assistant Secretary-General Economic and Development Affairs, Khalifa bin Said Al-Abri confirmed that this meeting came to enhance the role of the private sector in the process of sustainable development and economic growth,and enable it to contribute to expand the areas of economic integration in the GCC. On the other hand, BCCI Chairman Khalid Almoayyed welcomed the guests who participated in this meeting, pointing to the effective role played by the private sector in pushing the development process in the GCC.
