Information Minister patronises international conference

Manama, Apr. 18 (BNA): With the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation Chancellor Abdullah bin Hassan Al Buainin, Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi, the Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), patronised the first International Scientific Conference held under the theme “Towards Strategic Planning for Sustainable Development Within the Framework of Legislation and Judiciary”. The event was organised by the University of Bahrain’s College of Law in cooperation with BIPD, with the participation of specialised Arab experts in the judicial, legislative, economic and academic fields.
The Information Minister stressed in the opening of the conference BIPD’s commitment to promoting the democratic and legal culture and fostering values of tolerance, moderation and peaceful coexistence, being main pillars in boosting sustainable development in all its aspects. He underlined Bahrain’s numerous development and civilisational achievements in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He said those accomplishments have enhanced the kingdom’s international standing among countries with high human development.
Al Romaihi pointed out that Bahrain’s distinction in the educational, health and social care services and its leading status in respecting human rights, empowering women and the youth and achieving the millennium’s development goals before its deadline in 2015 are stories of success worthy to be proud of.
The Information Minister stressed the importance of the conference which convened amid various regional circumstances and challenges, including surging terrorism and extremism and political and security upheavals. He wished the conference every success in coming up with recommendations to fast-track reform, modernization and development.
