Interior Ministry marks Sports Day

Manama, Feb. 13 Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa participated today in the activities and events marking Bahrain Sports Day. The event followed directives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa to mark the sports day, supported by supported by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee. The minister said that the participation of all directorates in this national occasion was part of the community partnership and the reinforcement of sports as a value and a practice for healthy lifestyle and safety. He commended the efforts of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and the Bahrain Olympic Committee under the chairmanship of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to enhance sports and promotion of youth as top national priorities. He hailed the role of the Public Security Sports Association, governorates and MOI directorates for their participation in the day’s sports events as part of a comprehensive programme to be involved in various activities and games organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the association. The MOI directorates marked the occasions with various events that started with walking programmes and then different sports games. The minister also attended the finales of various sports competitions that launched a few days back. He honoured officers and non-commissioned commission officers who have been involved in sports for the last 25 years and employees who won regional, Arab, Asian and international sports championships in 2017, in addition to the MOI winners of the Bahrain Sports Day.
