Investigation Team Starts Work On Singapore's MRT Service Disruptions

SINGAPORE, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- The Internal Investigation Team (IIT) commissioned by the Board of Directors of SMRT Corp Ltd (SMRT) to investigate the mass rapid transit service disruptions in Singapore on Dec 15 and 17, 2011, has finalised its composition and commenced its work officially Tuesday. In a statement, SMRT , Singapore’s premier multi-modal public transport service provider, said the Board had invited a group of people from various backgrounds to help SMRT understand what the root causes of the disruptions were, and what organisational processes could be improved. The statement said the IIT would also invite members of public affected by the disruptions to give their account of the disruptions, their observations of what went right and what went wrong, and suggestions for improvements that SMRT should make. The IIT would present its findings and recommendations to the Board of SMRT, the Land Transport Authority and the Committee of Inquiry (COI) set up by the Ministry of Transport, the statement said. Any decision to release the findings and recommendations of the Investigation Team to the public would be considered only after consultation with the COI, the statement added. -- BERNAMA
