Iran judiciary: Officials not informed of Ahmadinejad’s court summons

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jun.19/ Trend F.Karimov/ Officials of the Judiciary System had not been informed of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent summon to court, the Fars News Agency quoted Iran judiciary spokesperson Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei as saying. On Monday, branch 76 of the Tehran penal court summoned President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad following a complaint by Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani. Calling the president to the court should have been conducted in a more proper way, Ejei said. There are specific methods based on the Constitution to deal with offenses and violations of top officials of the country, he noted. Any violation of the president and his deputies should be investigated after being announced to the Majlis in a public court, he added. MP Mohammad-Ali Pourmokhtar told Mehr that the president has been summoned due to the non-establishment of the ministry of sports and youth, violations in the Oil Ministry, non-implementation of the budget law and refusal to make some Majlis approvals. The complaint is due to be investigated on November 26, some four months after the termination of Ahmadinejad's eight year term in office. In May, more than half the members of the Majlis instigated a complaint against the president for accompanying his chief adviser when he registered for the presidential election. More than 150 of the 290 members added their names to the inquiry by Iran's constitutional watchdog. It's looking into whether President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad violated the law by accompanying his chief adviser, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, to register for the presidential election.
