Isra Mikraj Reminds The World Jerusalem The Centre Of Global Peace -- PCOM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) -- As Muslims worldwide celebrated Isra Mikraj last Thursday, they were reminded that no peace will prevail in the world as long as Jerusalem, where the sacred Al-Aqsa mosque is located, is denied peace and mercy. In saying this, chairman of Palestinian Cultural Organisation Malaysia (PCOM), Imran Muslim, pointed out that the message of peace in the city, also known as Baitulmaqdis to the Muslim world, took an international dimension – conveyed as early as the year of Isra Mikraj (621). "Jerusalem has been the centre of peace, mercy, glory, and kindness for all mankind. The city was the meeting point of all monotheistic religions where the Prophet of Peace Muhammad let all other prophets in worship and the subjugation towards Allah. “...and it is finally the cultural and civilisational centre for all Muslims across the world. And it is in fact a global centre of cultures and civilisations,” he said. Imran said this during a Special Talk on Isra Mikraj with the theme ‘Al-Aqsa: Where all the Prophets Gathered’, held virtually last Thursday. The 30-minute talk via Facebook was organised by the Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine (MWCQP), a coalition body consisting of over 15 NGOs in Malaysia. “If we look at what’s happening in Baitulmaqdis or Jerusalem, Israel continues to deny Palestinians access to it. Many Palestinians in Jerusalem, the Jerusalemites, are being thrown out of the city. “The situation of COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for the Palestinians to access the Al-Aqsa mosque. Israel authorities took advantage of the pandemic to claim that due to health concerns, they are restricting Palestinian movement into the mosque,” he said. PCOM, established in 2011, aims to spread awareness about the Palestinian cause among Malaysians at public and official levels. The Isra Mikraj event, celebrated on 27th Rejab every year in the Islamic calendar, commemorates an important event in Islam where the mandatory five-times-a-day-prayers for Muslims was made known and where Prophet Muhammad personally witnessed the greatness of Allah. -- BERNAMA
