Japanese fm: Turkey is a very important country for Japan

ANKARA (A.A) - January 6, 2012 - Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba has said that Turkey, taking place on a strategic location where Asia, Europe and Middle East intersected, was a very important country for Japan. Turkey undertook an important role in the region, and Japan wanted to further strengthen the relations with such an important country, added Gemba who held a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara on Friday. Gemba said that Japan was cooperating with Turkey in important global and diplomatic matters such as Afghanistan, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and disarmament. Noting that they also discussed economic projects during the meeting, Gemba said that construction of third bridge at Istanbul Strait, Fatih project, hospitals and space technologies were some of the issues they took up.
