Jokowi calls for revitalization of facilities for G20 Summit

Jakarta, March 25 (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry to renovate the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park in Badung District, Bali Province, for welcoming the G20 Summit delegates in November 2022. He inspected the cultural park around 10:30 a.m. Central Indonesian Standard Time (WITA) on Friday. After accompanying the President for the review, Director General of Human Settlements at the ministry Diana Kusumastuti said that he gave a number of directives regarding the plan for holding a dinner for G20 Summit delegates at the cultural park. "We have been assigned to make the entrance area more spacious to facilitate the heads of states to walk from the drop-off (point for) vehicles to the dinner location and back to the vehicles later,” the director general informed. In addition to the GWK Cultural Park, President Widodo also asked the ministry to carry out revitalization of the area around the toll roads that will be used by delegates. Hence, the directorate general will plant bougainvillea trees at toll road medians, Kusumastuti said. "Meanwhile, on the right and left side of the road, we are going to plant frangipani, which is a typical tree of Bali region, as well as fragrant screw-pine and some shrubs to beautify the toll road," she informed. The director general said she expected the tree planting to not only be carried out along toll roads in Bali province, but also across the country. "Hence, the toll roads in Bali province will become a pilot project for the toll road greening program,” she added. After reviewing the GWK Cultural Park, President Widodo interacted with street vendors and stall owners at Alas Kusuma Market, Badung district, Bali province, and disbursed direct cash assistance (BLT) to them. According to the G20 official site, the 17th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit will take place from November 15–16, 2022.
