Kazakhstan's Scat Air Starts Chartered Flights To Langkawi
LANGKAWI (Malaysia), Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Scat Air of Kazakhstan is making
two chartered flights to Langkawi to bring tourists to the tax free island
resort.
The first arrived on Wednesday while the other is scheduled for Jan 14.
A traditional welcome complete with 'kompang' (small hand-held drum) beating
greeted the 200 passengers when the plane landed at the Langkawi International
Airport at about 10am this morning.
The Langkawi Development Authority Board with the cooperation of tourist
agencies held the welcoming reception to promote the island by distributing
leaflets to the visitors.
This is the first time the company is flying to Langkawi.
Meanwhile, Finnish airline, Finnair has also begun flying in tourists from
Scandinavian countries direct to Langkawi.
The flights, which commenced in mid-December on every Saturday, will go on
until March 13 next year.
