Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, April 15 (Antara) - The General Election Commission in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province has destroyed thousands of unused ballot papers with special mark on them for last Wednesday`s legislative elections. "We have destroyed the unused ballot papers to avoid them from being used by irresponsible parties," Local KPU chairman John Depa said here on Tuesday. According to him, every electoral region got 1,000 ballot papers for reelection in case there was a natural disaster or other extraordinary incident. He said the ballot papers with special mark on them were made available for reelection in emergency situation but because they were not used, the KPU destroyed by burning them out. John noted that eight electoral regions in East Nusa Tenggara got additional 1,000 ballot papers each for reelection in case there was an extraordinary incident. "But the the additional ballot papers were not used so we have destroyed them," John said.
