KSrelief Signs Cooperation Agreement to Ensure Access to Safe, Comprehensive Educational Environment in Yemen

Riyadh, December 21, 2022, SPA -- King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) today signed a cooperation agreement with a civil society institution to ensure access to a safe and comprehensive educational environment in several Yemeni governorates, as part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s grant to support the humanitarian response plan in Yemen, expected to benefit more than 16,000 students and educational personnel. Assistant Supervisor General of KSrelief Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz signed the agreement at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh. Director of the Department of Community Support Dr. Hana Omar noted that, as per the agreement, expansion works would be done at 10 schools by adding and equipping 28 classrooms and rehabilitating and equipping 10 other schools and distributing educational tools to teachers, indicating that a training course for 40 school supervisors and social workers in targeted schools would be implemented within the project activities. She added that the agreement aims to provide a safe and appropriate educational environment in 20 schools targeted in the most affected areas in nine districts in Abyan, Lahij, Dhali and Taiz governorates, noting that this initiative is envisioned to enhance students' engagement, enrollment and attendance in education, and sparing them from violence caused by their school drop-outs. The agreement comes within the framework of a series of educational projects implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief, its humanitarian arm, to support the education sector in Yemen and improve its environmental efficiency. --SPA
