KYODO NEWS INTERVIEWS MAYOR S.BATBOLD

Tokyo /MONTSAME/ On the sidelines of his official visit to Japan, Ulaanbaatar Mayor S.Batbold gave an interview to Japanese news agency Kyodo News, and discussed the current relationship of the two countries’ capital cities and future directions on April 19, Wednesday.
Mongolian national news agency MONTSAME signed a cooperation agreement with Kyodo News in 1983, and the interview was conducted in scope of the two agencies’ cooperation.
During the interview, Mayor S.Batbold discussed how Ulaanbaatar city aims to build and intensify relations with Northeast Asian cities, the significance of his Japan visit in expanding Ulaanbaatar-Tokyo ties and taking the current relations to a new level and his meeting with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike during which they exchanged views on possible cooperation in waste management and air pollution reduction areas, cultural cooperation and many other topics.
“Ulaanbaatar pursues a policy to develop tourism. In this regard, I will focus on bringing Japanese tourists to Ulaanbaatar, creating products for them and protecting the interests of Japanese investors and businesses in Ulaanbaatar”, he emphasized. He also expressed Mongolia’s goal to become a trade partner instead of a country that only receives aid.
