Labour minister praises GPIC

Manama, July 9 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has paid a visit to the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC)’s headquarters, where he met GPIC’s President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, executive management members Labour Union members, as well as senior officials. The two sides held a meeting during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between them in projects to develop the Bahraini workforce, in general, and GPIC’s workers, in particular. Dr. Jawahery conveyed to the minister greetings from GPIC board members, and praised the crucial role played by the Labour and Social Development Ministry to develop the labour market in an unprecedented way through the monitoring of the enforcement of laws and legislation, which, he said, will reflect positively on the development process in the kingdom. He stressed the importance of consolidating community partnership to develop the labour market and human resources to improve their performance and increase productivity, which will benefit the Bahraini economy. The minister praised GPIC’s efforts to support the national economy, as well as its quality products that are manufactured according to the best quality standards and professional health and safety principles, and exported to major world markets, which, he said, has gained the kingdom a distinguished reputation in this regard. Humaisan lauded GPIC President’s efforts and personal contributions to developing the petrochemical industry, as well as successful leadership, which has gained Dr. Jawahery global honouring, citing the Italian Presidential Decree of Knight – Order of the Star of Italy 2017 Award presented by President of the Italian Republic and his appointment as a UN Ambassador for Sustainable Development 2030. He also highlighted GPIC’s achievements under his leadership, citing mainly the Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Innovation Award, and the HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Award granted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). He asserted that the regional and international awards granted to GPIC or to its president reflect the appreciation of the international community of Bahrain, under its leadership, as well as in its qualified competencies. The minister praised the distinguished relations between GPIC management and the representatives of its workers, which, he stressed, has reflected positively on the performance of the company and created a work environment that stimulates excellence, giving and increased productivity. He affirmed that the optimal investment in national human resources has entitled GPIC to be a leader in the Bahrainisation rate, calling on other private sector institutions to emulate GPIC’s model proving the outstanding ability of the Bahraini workforce to be creative and to spur the kingdom’s economy and development process. He highlighted the vital role played by the petrochemical industries sector in boosting the economy of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council. He described GPIC as a monument that consolidates fruitful cooperation among GCC countries. He also praised the company’s labour policies, being home to one of the oldest labour trade unions in Bahrain. He also hailing the company for its interest in creating a motivating work environment and in encouraging and training its employees. He lauded the company’s leadership in the field of women empowerment in the industrial sector. Humaidan lauded GPIC’s commitment to Occupational safety and health standards through the provision of a secure work place that has gained it prestigious regional and global awards.
