Leadership congratulated on ISG achievements

Manama, May 21 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of West Asian Athletics Federation, President of Bahrain Athletics Association congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister; His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister; His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, on the occasion of Bahrain winning 21 medals, with 12 gold in the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) held recently in Baku, Azerbaijan, and achieving fifth in the overall ranking and the first among the Arab countries.
The National athletics team won first place in the athletics competitions by winning 19 medals, including 11 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals in a historic achievement, the first of its kind.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that the achievement is the result of the support from the wise leadership and sponsorship of HH Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the Sports Movement.
He pointed out that this new achievement of the Bahraini Athletics in particular has reaffirmed the safety of the plans and programmes adopted by the Bahrain Athletics Association to bring more honourable achievements to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
"Our heroes have shown the best examples of representing the homeland by winning the largest number of medals in the Islamic Solidarity Games and raising the flag of Bahrain high to reaffirm that athletics sport is moving forwards and the Kingdom is at the top in various foreign gatherings.", he said.
"We look forward at this achievement with admiration and appreciation as our champions have written a wonderful heroic epic among the strongest runners of the world and surpassed several giant countries in sports, which reflects on the solid base of runners thanks to the support of the wise leadership, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and all the members of the Association's Board of Directors.", he added.
He also praised the outstanding contribution of all the male and female athletes who placed Bahrain in the ranks of the developed countries at the level of sport. His Highness also praised the prominent role of the technical and administrative teams who helped accomplish this achievement.
He added that the new achievement will push the Association's Board of Directors to provide more support and care to the runners and to continue to enforce the success of Bahraini sports.
He expressed pride in continuing to accomplish qualitative achievements which reflects the great efforts exerted by the Associations, the technical and administrative teams and Athletes to showcase the Kingdom and raise its banner in the foreign gathering.
