LIPI Researcher Successfully Develops Various Electrospinning Products
Jakarta, Aug 18 (Antara) - A researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Science and Technology (LIPI) has successfully developed various kinds of post-electrospinning to make nanofiber and nanoparticle products.
"Efforts to develop the technology took around three years," Muhamad Nasir, a researcher of LIPI`s Chemical Research Center remarked here on Tuesday.
This technology, which can be used to produce nanofiber and nanoparticles, can be applied to assist in the production of computers, electronics, cosmetics, fertilizers, polymers, supplements, and herbal medicines.
Nasir explained that these nano products can also be used in air and water filters and lithium battery separators as well as masks measuring less than a micron, which prevent dust from reaching the lungs.
With the success, LIPI is now trying to develop a lithium battery separator specifically for the development of electric cars in the country.
"Nanofiber is the ideal choice for making lithium battery separators because it is very effective as a conductor for anode and cathode ions to produce electric energy," he pointed out.
During the Indonesia Nano Summit 2014 held by LIPI in cooperation with the Indonesia Nano Community at JIExpo Kemayoran on August 14-16, he emphasized that some businessmen had expressed interest in the technology including a ziolit producer who is keen to incorporate nano ziolit into nanofiber.
