Luangta Maha Bua museum makes progress

UDON THANI, June 18 (TNA) - Wat Kasorn Sila Khun, commonly known as Wat Pa Ban Tat monastery in the northeastern province of Udon Thani, forged ahead with the museum construction project aimed at honoring one of the most highly-respected Buddhist monks in the Thai history, Luangta Maha Bua. The 490-million-baht Dhamma Chedi Museum project has made progress after Phra Dharma Visuddhi Mangala, known as Luangta Maha Bua, passed away at 97 in 2011. When he was alive, Luangta Maha Bua was regarded as one of the most highly-revered monks by all Thais. He played a significant role in helping salvage the Thai economy after the 1997 Asian economic meltdown. The museum will be a memorial where relics of the senior monk will be preserved and used as a place to spread his teachings to the next generations. The museum in the east of the monastery is expected to be completed in 30 months. (TNA)
