Major importers to buy more Thai rice

BANGKOK, November 11 (TNA) - Nine major rice importing countries have expressed interest in buying more Thai fragrant jasmine rice recently on a visit to Thailand’s northeastern province of Surin. They include Nigeria, Ghana, Austria, Denmark and Japan, according to Srirat Rastapana, director-general of Thailand's International Trade Promotion Department. During the first nine months of this year, Nigeria alone imported rice from Thailand valued at 467.45 million U.S. dollars, equivalent to 14.45 per cent of Thailand’s total exports during the period.
