Malaysia Contributes US$100,000 To UNRWA For Palestinian Refugees

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has made a voluntary one-off contribution of US$100,000 (RM310,220) to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees. "The voluntary contribution is a gesture of Malaysia's continued support to the legitimate rights of the Palestine people for an independent State of Palestine," said Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foriegn Affairs) in a press statement, issued here Monday. The contribution is also a reaffirmation of Malaysia's full support to the Palestinian cause and its solidarity with the people of Palestine, it said. UNRWA is a relief and human development agency which provides education, healthcare, social services and emergency aid to about five million registered Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank -- BERNAMA
