Malaysia Most Popular Songstress's Journey To Stardom Aired On Astro's History Channel
MALAYSIA MOST POPULAR SONGSTRESS'S JOURNEY TO STARDOM AIRED ON ASTRO'S HISTORY CHANNEL
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- A documentary on Malaysia's most popular
songstress Nurhaliza Tarudin was featured on Astro's History
Channel Wednesday night.
The one-hour programme, aired on her 33rd birthday, chronicled her 17 years
in the entertainment industry -- from a humble beginning as singer at wedding
receptions to international stardom and later her venture into businesses.
Known for her golden voice, good looks and sweet demeanour, Siti began her
singing career at the age of 16 and continued honing her skills by participating
in various competitions.
Her biggest break came when she won the Bintang Hiburan Minggu Ini singing
competition organised by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) in 1995. Her popularity
skyrocketed after that.
The diva also became the first Malaysian artiste to ever perform at the
prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London, where she was dubbed "Asia's Celine
Dion" by the British press.
Apart from managing her singing career, Siti also ventured into business
with the establishment of her multi-million ringgit SimplySiti cosmetic empire.
The programme had interviewed entertainment journalist Zainal Alam Kadir, TV
host Najip Ali, make-up artist Nurul Shukor and her PR manager Rozi Abdul Razak.
History Channel has also aired documentaries on some of the prominent public
figures in the country, including former prime minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad,
the late multi-talented performer P. Ramlee and male singing sensation
the late Sudirman Hj Arshad.
Astro is the brand name of the Malaysian direct broadcast satellite (DBS) pay
television service.
