MALAYSIA STILL ABLE TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S QUALITY OF LIFE

KEPALA BATAS (Malaysia), Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government is still able to improve the quality of life to a higher level compared to some developed countries which are facing economic problems and political instability, said Minister in the Prime Minister Nor Mohamed Yakcop. He said this was possible because Malaysia's leaders were sincere in wanting the people to move ahead. "At one time Malaysia was colonised by one of the big powers, but now the great powers are not able to improve the quality of life of their people but Malaysia can," he told reporters after opening the first branch of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) (a local bank) in Sungai Dua and its 23rd in the country, here, Wednesday. Nor Mohamed said the government was constantly striving to make improvements in order to achieve developed nation status by 2020. He said many people had played an important role, including civil servants and government-linked companies (GLCs) to achieve a comfortable quality of life for the people. -- BERNAMA
