PUTRAJAYA, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak today congratulated Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Jassim Jabr Thani for his strong leadership in developing the country, making Qatar a very stable and prosperous nation. "We don't hear of any problems in Qatar so everything must be going very well, an indication of very effective leadership," he said at an official luncheon hosted for Sheikh Hamad and the delegation at Seri Perdana, the official residence of Malaysian Prime Minister. Also present were his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and several cabinet ministers, including International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, Higher Education Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and Works Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor. Sheikh Hamad, who is also Qatar's Foreign Minister, arrived Monday for a three-day visit. He held bilateral talks with Najib, and is scheduled to leave for Langkawi tonight to attend the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (Lima) exhibition Tuesday. The following day, he will tour the legendary Island. Najib said both parties had a very productive discussion Monday and are looking forward to acting on things that have been decided. He said he is taking Sheikh Hamad to Langkawi, and hopes he can persuade Qatar to invest there. Sheikh Hamad said the partnership between the two countries can be an example in the two regions. "I hope that this relationship will continue and benefit both countries and their people," he said. -- BERNAMA
