Malaysian PM Urges Martial Arts Practitioners To Emulate Warriors Of Old

GEORGE TOWN (Malaysia), Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Razak Tuesday urged martial arts practitioners in the country to emulate the characteristics of true warriors and uphold the nation's sovereignty. He said as warriors they must be prepared to be the third line of defence and protect the country from undesirable elements who may try to destroy its unity and sovereignty. "Today's generation which has inherited the spirit of warriors of old should be far sighted and brave. If we are brave we can develop the country to be highly successful," he said at the 1Malaysia 'Warrior Night' organised by martial arts organisation (PSSLM) here, Tuesday night. ' Also present were the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, Mahaguru PSSLM Omardin Mauju, National Silat Federation of Malaysia (Pesaka) president Ali Rustam and ministers in the Prime Minister's Department Dr Koh Tsu Koon and Nor Mohamed Yakcop. The prime minister also called on martial arts exponents to make strong character and spirit of loyalty to the nation as their key guiding principles. He emphasised that each individual had the responsibility to preserve the nation's unity and sovereignty which were sacred duties entrusted to them. -- BERNAMA
