Malaysia's History Should Not Be Politicised - Deputy Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's history should not be politicised as this can cause the younger generation to be confused, said Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Maglin Dennis D'Cruz. He said the nation's history should be preserved instead so that it could be inherited by future generations. "Our responsibility now is to preserve and protect the country's history...it is our duty to bequeath the existing unity, harmony and well-being the country is enjoying to future generations," he told reporters after attending the National 1Malaysia Nationhood Narration final at the National Museum's auditorium here Saturday. He said this when asked to comment on the call by an opposition party Member of Parliament Salahuddin Ayub for a Cabinet committee to be formed to review how Malaysia's history had been written. Maglin added that the peace and progress the country was enjoying did not come by chance but due to the untiring efforts of the nation's leaders. -- BERNAMA
