Mass Media Important For Social Interaction

SANDAKAN (Sabah, Malaysia), Dec 14 (Bernama) -- The media play an important role as a platform for social interaction among the society, Sabah Native Affairs Council president Zakaria Edris said. Without the media, he added, social and political interactions would not exist in a modern society. He said the media provided the bridge for the existing systems in the country. "The interaction process between the media and the society provides for a mutually-influencing dynamics," he told a dinner for members of the Information Department's media tour here on Tuesday night. Zakaria, who is Gum-Gum assemblyman, said the media tour helped promote relations among media practitioners, the government and local community leaders. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
