Media should foster culture of peace, Omani correspondent

Tehran, IRNA – A senior official at Oman News Agency has stressed here on the sidelines of the 18th meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) General Assembly the importance of fostering the culture of peace. Saif Ali Al Yarubi, a managing director at Oman News Agency, made the remarks in an interview with IRNA. The 18th meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) General Assembly was officially held in Tehran on Monday (October 24) with the participation of Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ali Naderi and with a speech by Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili. At his remarks, the Omani correspondent said dialogue is the most effective way to settle disagreements. Al Yarubi called on the media to respect countries’ privacy and release the news far from political intentions. Referring to the rotating presidency presented to IRNA at the 18th OANA General Assembly meeting in Tehran, Al Yarubi said the Islamic Republic News Agency will surely take step towards achieving the Organization goals. It is expected that the IRNA presidency over OANA will lead to further cooperation among the member countries. Elsewhere, he called for updating agreement on cooperation between Oman News Agency and IRNA. As of October 2022, IRNA will preside over OANA for three years. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
