Media training programme launched

Manama, July 10 (BNA): The Ministry of Information Affairs has launched the professional media training programme for Bahraini undergraduate students and alumni of national universities in partnership with Tamkeen. The programme follows the agreement signed in April by Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi and the Chairman of Tamkeen’s Board of Directors, Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa. 100 young media aspirants were carefully selected by a specialized arbitration panel from among 500 applicants who were already in possession of basic media knowledge, skills and work ethics. The applications have been thoroughly assessed, and the applicants were interviewed in person. The 9-month training course which began on Sunday comprises 3 months of theoretical course and 6 months practical hands-on coaching to discover young media talents and to qualify and prepare them to join the labour market in the private and public sectors in various specializations. The trainees will be taught the various arts and techniques of the media, as per the new national media identity, latest technological and scientific methods of production, photography, montage, sound engineering, graphic design, presentation and compilation for TV, practical training and experience in Bahrain Television (BTV) studios, in collaboration with national and international media expertise firms. The ministry expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Tamkeen (i.e. the national labour development fund) for cooperation on the implementation of this ambitious training course, and the provision of opportunity for young national talents. The media training programme aims to increase the trainees’ professional and vocational capabilities and to quality them to join the labour market in line with the national project aimed to boost the media and communication sector in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
