MILK COOLING CENTER TO BE BUILT IN DARKHAN-UUL AIMAG

Darkhan-Uul /MONTSAME/ Darkhan-Uul aimag plans to build two Milk Cooling Centers in Khongor soum of Darkhan-Uul aimag in cooperation with herders’ cooperative named ‘Pride of Khongor’. The cooling centers will contribute to improve raw material supply for processing plants and to augment herder’s income. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are co-implementing SECiM project to develop selected livestock and vegetable value chains with participation of private sector. In frame of it, representatives of the FAO and Governor’s Office of Khongor soum got acquainted with activities of 20 citizens and entities running operation in intensive cattle farming for milk and collected information on current condition of milk production, location, milk price, sale and breed of livestock. As for the province, head of cattle reached 50.29 thousand in 2017 and Darkhan-Uul aimag is in the second place following Ulaanbaatar city with its number of calves in per square kilometer.
