Cilacap, C Java, May 8 (Antara) - The Ministry of Education and Culture established an expert team on cultural heritage to assist and give recommendation to the Minister in determining and conserving the legacy of national culture, an official said.
Director General of Cultural affairs of Education and Culture Ministry, Kacung Marijan said on Wednesday, there are three kinds of cultural heritage according to the law, namely national, provincial and district cultural heritages.
"If the national cultural heritage identified, we also hope to establish the cultural heritage expert team in the provincial and district level. The member of the team must meet the qualification and certified," Marijan said during his visit on Benteng Pendem (Buried Fort) in Teluk Penyu Beach, Cilacap, Wednesday.
The Directorate General of Culture is identifying and organizing the cultural heritages spread the three levels of administration.
According to him, the Ministry has opened Online registration service for the cultural heritage since 2013.
The registered cultural heritage would then be identified and classified.
"Local administration and society may register any tangible or non-tangible culture, including music and dance expected to be cultural heritage," Marijan said, adding the online registration will be available in May.
The registered cultural heritage would then be published online in order to provide information to the society and for the sake of cultural heritage preservation, protection and revitalization.
However, the government deplored about partial demolition of the Benteng Pendem structure due to negligence during the construction of Pertamina Refinery Unit IV in Area 70, in Teluk Penyu Beach.
"It might be caused by negligence or ignorance. Such case should not recur in the future," Marijan said, explaining that in the future, the preserved cultural heritage should be maintained and developed as media for education and tourism destinations.
The Ministry also appreciated some local administrations that managed to conduct conservation for cultural heritage.
"The Yogyakarta`s Vredeburg Fort is well conserved. There is also an institution maintaining and managing the Fort," Marijan said.
