Minor quake jolts Thailand’s North
LAMPANG, Sept 10 (TNA) – A 3.1-magnitude quake struck Lamphun’s provincial seat in the northern region of Thailand on Sunday morning, but there are no casualties reported.
Tinnakorn Tatong, director of the Office of Mineral Resources Region 1 in Lampang, said the small quake struck around 7.39 a.m. Its epicenter was located in the provincial seat of the neighboring Lamphun province where active faults released energy.
The quake was reportedly felt by people living in Chiang Mai, which are 26 kilometers away and about 690 kilometers north of Bangkok.
Mr Tinnakorn urged the affected residents not to panic as it was good that the faults have released some stored energy. (TNA)
