MITI To Assist Government For Ensuring People's Prosperity

Jakarta, Dec 16 (Antara) - The Indonesian Scientist and Technologist Community (MITI) is committed to helping the government to ensure greater prosperity for the people through the application of science and technology, noted MITI Chairman Warsito P. Taruno. "With the potential we have, we can utilize science and technology as a locomotive for advancing Indonesia and improving the prosperity of its people," Taruno remarked during a MITI national working congress in Tangerang, Banten province, on Tuesday. Among those attending the congress were MITI central executive board members, MITI officers, student groups, and professionals who will carry out their duties for the welfare of the people. "MITI members will become the frontline and will function as the agents of science-based national transformation," said Taruno, the inventor of the 4D brain activity scanner based on Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (ECVT), a technology which is much more sophisticated than CT scan. He affirmed that MITI is ready to assist the government in making the people more prosperous through the application of science and technology. According to him, MITI will continue to support the government in improving productivity in the industrial sector through the use of technology to boost the nation`s competitiveness, to reduce dependence on non-renewable natural resources, and to limit excessive exploitation of natural resources.
